My writer friend on Livejournal - MB Miller - mentioned how the holidays kind of derailed the writing schedule. I have to agree. As much as I wanted to get some things accomplished, Christmas and New Year's took most of my attention. New Year's did give me the opportunity to firm up some writing related goals for the new year.
01. Edit and publish Brookline University: Sophomore Year
This was also a goal I had last year, which makes this a somewhat awful goal to have two years in a row. I am very disappointed that I didn't get it done last year. Granted, a lot of projects came up that needed my attention (paying projects), but I can't let myself off the hook. I am aiming to work on it every week day until it's done. I am hopeful that getting through the first quarter will kick me into motion, because the first quarter is the most difficult of the re-write.
02. Make progress on SW (another writing project).
This is also a huge re-write project. I'm excited to get to it, because I think it could be really good and sellable. I just can't put my focus on it until I make progress on BU: SY. This will involve a lot of work in terms of timeline. I am excited to see where I can go with this, I think a lot of the re-writing will actually be new writing.
03. Read at least 20 new books
I know this isn't writing related, but my reading time has really shrunk the last few years, and it's quite depressing. I would like those 20 books to be fiction, but I'm giving myself leeway to read non-ficton books as well. I think the more I read, the more inspired I will be to write.
04. Write another screenplay for Script Frenzy this April.
I feel like I've learned so much about the process of screenwriting and what happens to a screenplay through development and through production and post-production. I think that insight could help me write a screenplay that is way better than the first one I ever wrote. I am excited about this, which is another reason I want the BU: SY edit to be done way before April.
So what are your goals for writing in 2010?
